Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, 708 Jesmond Rd Fig Tree Pocket, Brisbane, Queensland 4069 Australia

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary opened in 1927 as a safe refuge for sick, injured, and oprhaned koalas, at a time when the species was being culled for the fur trade. Founder, Claude Reid, recognised something had to be done to help protect one of Australia's most iconic species. Today, Lone Pine remains as a destination not only see native Australian animals, but to also connect and learn, and to leave feeling inspired to make small, positive changes in your daily lives to help protect native wildlife and habitats.

Along with koalas and kangaroos, Lone Pine hosts a sheepdog show where you see the hardworking dogs round up a herd of sheep, responding to their master’s whistles, calls and hand signals. You can see owls, kites and sea eagles soar above you at the Birds of Prey show, or marvel at the colorful feathers of the wild lorikeets that fly in twice daily for feedings. Other bird species and a population of Eastern Water Dragons, a lizard that grows up to 3 feet (90cm) long, also like to visit Lone Pine’s lush natural parkland.

Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: The Brisbane River, Brisbane, Queensland Australia

You’ll board your boat in Brisbane’s Southbank district and leave the city behind on a relaxing cruise to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. After about an hour you’ll arrive at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where you’ll be free to explore for 3 hours.

We had perfect weather for our cruise upriver. What an amazing feeling to be able to hold a beautiful koala and purchase a photo for an everlasting memory. The free flight raptor show was spectacular with magnificent birds zooming over the top of our heads.

A fantastic way to see parts of the Brisbane River that you don't usually get to see. Friendly staff on board, and tasty treats. Time at Lone Pine allowed us to see the whole area, and ending with a relaxing trip back down the river. Wonderful day.

A great way to learn the history of the Brisbane River, stopping at the Lone pine koala park for cuddles.

We really enjoyed this activity, not just because we haven't done any travelling since the COVID-19 pandemic began. With all the restrictions and overseas travel banned, we decided to do something local. The weather was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. The commentary was fun and informative. Best of all, there is an on-board cafe that has a wide selection of items, ranging from sausage rolls, hot dogs and sandwiches, to strawberry muffins, brownies, scones, snakes (lollies) even cheese platters and wine/champagne in proper wine glasses! Everyone was enjoying themselves. It was great to feel that we were on holidays again. We didn't know that this Brisbane river cruise has been taking locals and visitors to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary for over 70 years! Definitely suitable for the whole family.

A wonderful day! We used our Brisbane Holiday Dollars Voucher yesterday. Thank you Mirimar for a really enjoyable Koala Cruise. The trip and commentary was excellent and the onboard food (especially the scones and cheese platter), were delicious! Lone Pine Sanctuary is a terrific experience.....loved all the animals and shows. Wish the day was slightly longer, it is so good! We will definitely be back and highly recommend the courteous and friendly crew of Mirimar and the lovely Koala Cruise experience. Thank you! Sally and Albert J

We used our Brisbane Holiday Dollars. From the booking right through to the cruise, we were treated with respect and good old fashion manners. The boat is clean. Everybody is so kind and helpful. To see the riverside properties is a treat and aspiration. It’s nice to know the history. Lone pine is really fun, even with 2 teens! The morning tea was yum. We have some dietary requirements, they were all catered for. Nothing was too much trouble. On the way back, my hungry teens were treated to fresh toasties! Everything was so relaxing and I can now see why, everyone leaves a kind review. The views on the river are stunning but it’s the crew who make this trip so worthwhile.

This was a great experience, would definitely recommend. The river cruise was actually the highlight for us. The commentary was informative and funny and the crew is very friendly. The ride out and back to Lone Pine takes about an hour each way but it’s very beautiful and peaceful. Lone Pine is a great way to see koalas and kangaroos up close. The birds of prey show was also really cool.

The trip was cancelled by the operator. I oils like the money to be refunded. I have written three times to you without any response. This is poor customer service.
